Making Memories
What We Do
Research shows that social engagement and exercise can improve the quality of life for persons with dementia. Below are some of the various activities that participants are able to engage with at Making Memories.

Activities
Exercise
Exercise can help increase endurance, strength, and balance in patients with dementia. It can also help improve sleep and mood.
Socialization
Socialization can provide emotional support and help reduce feelings of anxiety and lonliness for men and women living with dementia.
Animal Therapy
Pet therapy has been shown to improve mood and have a calming and comforing effect on participants that are engaging with animals.
Art Projects
Art can help participants express themselves and manage different emotions. Art activities can also help create new memories and activate parts of the brain that may not be used as often.
Music Therapy
Music is powerful and is a way for people to connect and express themselves while engaging different parts of the brain.
Activities with On-Site Kindergarteners
Often times, people with dementia have a higher level of positive engagement when interacting with children. Participants have the unique opportunity of engaging with Kindergarteners that attend Westminster Presbyterian Church Preschool on campus.
